5 Church Website Tips for 2020

Looking into the next year, we want to leave 5 simple tips that will help you make the most out of your website!

1. Websites are transitioning from a phase of elegant and simple, to a little more creative and unique. This can be a tricky line to walk, however, if you can pull it off you will leave your audience with a great memory and fond experience.

2. Utilize an RSVP form on your visitor page, this allows for guests to let you know their intentions for attending and gives your welcoming team a heads up. It would be extremely effective if you give out first-time gifts, that way a name can be on it before they get there. Personalized attention is a great way to help visitors feel welcomed.

3. POV or walk-through videos of a Sunday morning gathering. Utilizing video content helps visitors become familiar with your church before they step through the doors for the first time!

4. This one isn’t new but needs to be restarted. Figure out who your target audience is! Design your website to match that audience, that way it is the most effective it can be. We suggest that you target visitors, seeing how they will discover your website before attending.

5. If you have a large church, transition some of your larger ministries into their own website. Create links from one to the other, and choose consistent domains, so that there is congruency. But, this will allow for all the information you need to be up while maintaining upload speeds.

1. For a great example of this is Northridge Church in Rochester, Northridgerochester.com

2. Upload speeds will help with your search rankings and the user’s experience, as things will load faster!

Numbers 4 & 5 run together in a sense as when you incorporate both members and guests into it, the site will continually get larger from the volume of information standpoint. This will take away from upload speeds, overall hurting your church search standings.
